Charged for sms

I made a payment arrangement with them for an account, when they informed me that they accept my payment proposal they said that i would receive an sms after every payment confirming that payment has been received, i asked weather i will be charged for these sms's and was assured that i will not be charged for then, now i get charged for smss and telephone calls i make to them... is this allowed???
