I received an SMS this morning demanding payment for an account for a company which closed down almost 13 years ago and threatens to list me in the credit bureau. The call centre agent is unable to say what the balance is for and requests an affidavit to say that the account has been settled on my side. I dont have any proof of payment as it has been ages since this happend. Further to this they claim to have spoken to my Dad in 2001 who told them I was not in the country. I have never left South Africa. They say that they have trying to get hold of me since then. My cell number is the same for the last 13 years. They claim to have sent a letter of demand to 88 Rocky Mountain drive in 2006, I moved out of there in 1998. Is this harrasment even legal? JM Attorney's is wasting my time.
