Change of medical aid plan

I am a member of Discovery and although i would really love to remain a member, i cannot afford to pay the substantial monthly premium any longer. I therefore requested to be moved to a lower costing saver plan, however, i was told that it was not possible as the plan is seen as an upgrade due to the benefits and i am therefore required to provide Discovery with proof that i moved out of a coastal region. I then requested to cancel my medical aid & they advised me what to do but what is extremely disappointing is that none of Discovery's members bothered to call me to find out if there was anything else that they could do to accommodate me. I dont understand how they are prepared to lose a customer that pays R1 500pm that has no hospital claims since the time of registration with them than to rather accommodate the person on the lower costing plan which will cost approx R1 200. If the lower costing plan offers better benefits for their clients, why is it such a major issue to change to that plan, don't they want their client's to be provided with the better option? If they dont then why have the plan in the first place? I hope that this issue can be solved.
