Surely there could be an exception to the rule

I have been with discovery health for a few years now, unfortunately I was retrenched from my former position whilst being 7 months pregnant, I continued with discovery health on a private capacity. I did have to down grade to a hospital plan, seeing as I no longer had a job. I called Discovery late January early February to find out if I couldn't possibly up grade as I was blessed by finding a job when baby was 3 months old. I spoke to a gentlemen from Discovery Health who said there is no possible way they could up grade my plan, after much debate I asked the Gentlemen "Is the only way I can go on a higher plan, by cancelling my medical aid then joining again? He said that would be a option he said they will review it accept it with or without a waiting period? I mean really? Discovery is fantastic and I have had no problems and it saddens me that they can not make an exception. My child's health is most important and I do no feel comfortable leaving him on a hospital plan till the end of the year!!! Would you really rather lose a client? I understand up grades get done once a year but really in a case like this you can't bend the rules?
Please don't disappoint me.
