I recently joined Discovery medical aid, after hearing about the benefits and options available from a consultant that came to our offices. The effective date of my cover started on 01.02.2013. Upon completing my application form I indicated that the debit order goes off on the 15th of every month. Imagine to my surprise when I receive an sms on the 11th stating my cover has been suspended until payment is received. I contacted the call centre they said it was an error as my debit order is only scheduled to go off on the 15th of the month. On the 16th I called the call centre and asked what is happening, why was a double debit order deducted? Their response a manger is not available I will have to call back on the 18th with the advise given that either I will receive a refund or the amount would go for next month's charge. Call number 4 on the 18th I am told that if the15th is selected as the debit order date a double payment is due in the first month. What the? Why was this not mentioned to me? On the 19th I received another sms saying my cover is suspended yet again. Please can my account just be sorted out? I haven't even made a claim and look at the service
