I went to spec savers Centurion towards the end of last year and ordered a new pair of specs which my medical aid settled in full. Last week one of the lenses chipped and i took it back in to have it repaired as they have a 24 month warranty that covers 80% costs of damaged or lost spectacles. The lady then tells me that the reason why they chipped so easily is because there was some coating that was never put on in the first place and they were going to re make the lenses with this coating on but i had to pay in -R1000.i then insisted that this was their responsibility to have at least told me about this extra coating at sales stage if they knew i needed it. The lady then told me that if i did not pay for the coating they would repair my glasses but my 24 month warranty would no longer apply. Had i been told about it would have been covered by my medical aid initially. The sales lady was sympathetic and after much debate we agreed that i would pay R666 to have the coating put on the glasses. This is daylight, will not be recommending spec savers to anyone ever!!!
