Medihelp possibly the worst medical aid in SA

I have been a member of Medihelp since 2008 and have since and the following has been my experience with them to date :

I was hospitalized for an emergency c-section with the birth of my twins in 2010, there was a short payment of around R800.00 on the pathologist account.

In 2011 I had to receive treatment for anemia in a day clinic there was a short payment of about R1000.00

In 2012 I had a root canal done and there was a short payment of R900.00

In 2013 following a fall incident one of my boys had to be hospitalized to have a wound to his lip sutured, there is a short payment of around R2000.00 so far and I have not yet received all the bills relating to this incedent. I also had to pay R700.00 before he was admitted.

These have been the only claims on my medical aid aside from the occasional visit to my GP.

Medihelp advertise them self as been a premium medical aid and the plan I am on (dimension Prime 3 the second best plan on offer) is advertised on their website as a family plan with added benefits for optometry and dentistry. I summary, I pay to be on a top plan on a premium medical aid but without exception there are huge short payments on pretty standard treatments
