Good day

My mother Rita Harold (folder number VBG 144582954) a regular patient at Vredenburg. My mother has been attending Vredenburg hospital since last year with ongoing health issues. She was diagnosed with pneumonia, severe arthritis and diabetes. December 2024 my mother experienced gastro like symptoms, with vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach and nausea. Since January she has been attending Vredenburg, every month a different test is done and she is given another date for the next month. In February she insisted the doctor do a cancer test, since she was a cancer patient at Groote Schuur hospital many years ago. Doctors did a cervix cancer test which came out negative (NO OTHER CANCER TESTED) March month my mother requested to be moved to Groote Schuur hospital and was advised by Vredenburg to allow them to run all test so they can diagnose her.By May she was still going back each month for more tests and no diagnosis found. She had by this time lost half of her body weight 40kg and was unable to walk. During this time her voice became horse, and she was told that Vredenburg hospital will do a throat cancer test in September, she was advised to go home and wait for her appointment details. During all this month's January - May, my mom was being rushed to Vredenburg hospital by ambulance at least 3 times per month and STILL NO DIAGNOSIS. July the 3rd we rushed her to a hospital in Cape Town and 2 days later she was diagnosed with Maligna Lung Cancer, by this time the cancer had spread rapidly through her whole body. My mother passed away on the 16th of July, 2 weeks after being diagnosed. What was Vredenburg hospital doing in all this time? We the family want answers.

How did Vredenburg not pick this up?
Her medical records indicate she was a cancer patient before.
Her medical records indicate she was a cigarette smoker all her life.
How is a provincial hospital still using outdated equipment when Scanning and X-raying patients. (low grade equipment used to test my mother)
What tests were all performed?
Where use ever going to refer her back to Groote Schuur as she requested?
You sent my mother her throat cancer date on the 21 July, by then she had already passed away.
How could Vredenburg not diagnose my mother.

To how many patients is this happening. This is UNACCEPTABLE and we want answers.
