Doctor Popara, and her assistant, completely mislead me into thinking my medical aid would pay for services rendered. Upon receiving notification that my medical aid would allow the treatment to go ahead, I asked if my medical aid would cover the whole cost. Doctor Poparas assistant said "there may be a slight shortfall of maybe a few hundred rand, certainly not a thousand".
Based on this statement, I signed a document which left me responsible for any shortfall of payment from my medical aid.
This shortfall turned out to be almost R4, 000. My medical aid paid less than R2, 000.
I recently discovered that this seems to be a regular occurrence with Dr Popara. A friend of mine was duped in the very same way.
