Principal member of medical aid handed over to debt collector due to a shortfall in payment from medical aid to supplier. My husband became very ill and went to the Netcare Linksfield Hospital to see a specialist physician. The Doctor then ordered a series of X-Rays and other radiological services from D.R.S Inc. The cost of these services was submitted to my medical aid, who paid medical aid rates for the services. There was a shortfall in the total. D.R.S then sent two letter via post and two emails. The matter was then handed over to debt collectors who have harrassed and hounded me. I was not given the chance to even query why the full amount was not paid by my medical aid. In addition, these are services that were ordered by the attending physician and which we had no control over. Very few people budget for sudden illness and we are all at the mercy of the doctor and the medical services that the doctor recommends. The speed at which this matter was handed over to debt collectors and the harassment of me over a shortfall in payment by the medical aid is actually disgusting. I will never makes use of the physician, Netcare hospitals or D.R.S Inc again.
