Unpaid hospital bill

Good day. On 23rd of October my husband went for a disk replacement operation. On the 18th of October authourisation was requested and obtained (71507467). the Specialist had to write a motivation which he did and it was faxed on the 18th to 021-4661913 and the given reference number Bon-11672098 quoted. We did not hear anything from them. They then paid for the operation but now refuse to pay for the disk of R22000 though they indicated to the specialist that there was sufficient funds for such instruments. According to them they sent an sms on either the 23rd or 21st to my husband informing him the dsik is not authorised. we NEVER received such an SMS otherwise we would have postponed the operation to sort this out. Why would they authorize an operation for a disk replacement if they are not willing to pay for the disk and there was sufficient funds?? What was the specialist suppose to inplant?
