Poor service and hygiene!

Health & Medicine

On Sunday, 29 December 2013 at 19:40, we took our 10-wk old boy to the ER with a 39.3 fever. He had to wait to be triaged, but a chart inside the ER actually shows that an infant younger than 3mths with a fever of more than 39 is a code red? We waited about an hour before they traiged him! We reliase that it was busy, but still feel that, given his age, a greater sense of urgency was needed. He was only finally admitted to hospital at 23:45, by which time he was so traumatised. The general hygiene of the ward was good, but we found a used syringe in the uncomfortable sleeper couch that my wife had to sleep on! Then there was this dreadful smell in the bathroom. Upon further investigation on day three, I realised that the sanitary bin was never cleaned out, although they came to clean the rooms daily. Imagine how long that must have been there for it to smell so bad (my wife didn't make use of the bin, so it wasn't her refuse in there!). That is just unacceptable by any standards! I know there will probably be nothing done about it, but this was my last visit to a poorly managed Mediclinic (Capegate)! They truly will never see me, my wife or child again. UNACCEPTABLE.
