Changing Contract One-Sidedly

On the 1 Dec'05 I started on the medical aid scheme. How it was explained to me was that I 1st have to pay to be coverd. Since 1 Dec '05 I've never skipped or missed any payments. Only when I resigned on the 5 Sept '12 I was informed that I have to give notice of 3 months moving to another medical aid. It was a suprise but paid the notice 3 months starting from 1 Oct '12 to 1 Dec '12 as per scheme rules. Now it's said to me that i'm a arrears payer??? According to my knowledge I paid an instalment to get covered in advance so we calculate cancellation payments from 1st payment and then cover. They now tell me that the administration of the scheme changed in December 2010 and that everybody now first get cover and then pay but we first paid and then get covered. How do that work I've never skipped or missed any payments?? I never recieved a letter stating that they are changing their Admin System on the 1 Dec '10. I can't remember that any 1 phoned me on the 9 Jan '12 to confirm any changes, waited from 1 Dec '10 - 9 Jan '13 to tell me about it. I refuse to pay any exstra installments. 2 Jan '13 i disputed the transaction at the bank and will not pay it now they come with stories...
