After attending a wedding nearby, the bridal party of the wedding shower, myself included, went to Knorhoek, where we had advised them we would be a late arrival. We called and were let in at the gate. When we got to the front door, we called every number available, could not reach anyone and waited 45 minutes. After multiple calls, we got in touch with someone who said they were coming and waited another 25 minutes. When we called back to make sure someone was coming, we were spoken to in a completely rude tone and then hung up on. The reason the woman was rude to us was because the accent of the woman calling on our behalf was black South African. We were equally rudely treated in person. Sometimes in life people treat other people poorly. For anyone who has experienced firsthand though, there is a stench to it, nuanced and direct that makes it unmistakable. Experiencing this treatment after attending a wedding which was filled with love and joy, Knorhoek Guesthouse embodied the ugliest parts of South African culture. It would be my recommendation to anyone looking for a guest house to look elsewhere and not support such a place.
