Confirmed a booking twice, room was given away!

I made a booking at Edelweiss Corporate Guesthouse just over a week before our date of arrival, as I had a wedding in the area. At the time of the booking I was told that I could pay on arrival and that they would keep the bigger room for us as our three year old was coming with us. 2 Days before our arrival I phone to confirm my booking. I still said to the staff "I don't want to get there and I don't have a room, are you sure I can make payment on the day". I was told that my booking was confirmed and I must pay when I get there. The following day I called again to reconfirm and was told the same. We arrived at Edelweiss Corporate Guesthouse on the day of the wedding only to be told that my booking was not confirmed and now had nowhere to prepare for our function. We had to drive back early hours of the morning as all establishments in the area were fully booked and spend the night in our car with our 3 year old as we had arranged for our house to be fumigated while we were away. Not sure if the staff wanted to pocket the cash payment, but VERY disappointing for what is meant to be a 4 star establishment!
