No medical cover after approval

I had the misfortune of having to deal with Discovery's call centre when I tried to get hospitalisation approval. At first approval was given, 2 seconds later they requested more information. All information was provided, but no feedback is ever provided regarding the approval or non-approval. After almost 4 weeks of calling them and no feedback given to me, I eventually obtain final approval. With the surgery scheduled for the following day, I had very little time to make the necessary arrangements for child care, taking the time off work, etc. The following day the surgery is performed (not without complications). Two of the service providers were paid for the services rendered. Three weeks later when the rest of the service providers rendered their account to Discovery (based on the approval notice received from Discovery), Discovery informs all of them that the hospitalisation was declined. No one single person at Discovery is willing to assist with this, when an enquiry is lodged with them, they revert to you with an impersonal form letter simply stating the approval was never given. Almost 4 months later - I'm left with the debt of almost R60, 000
