I contacted Discovery on Friday the 4th of October to query the co-payment I had to make on the purchase of a mirena intrauterine system. Part of the shortfall was due to my self payment gap which I expected but (it appears that) I paid an additional 25% because the item was treated as non-generic medication. This meant an additional R544 from my own pocket. I got re-assurance from Renate that I was absolutely correct about the error and that I should receive feedback within 48 hours. When I phoned Discovery this morning I was told to wait another 2-3 days which I find totally unacceptable. Apparently there was no feedback on my query so it had to be escalated. For starters Discovery would have gotten away with this classification had I not phoned and now it appears as though they are giving no priority to having this resolved. I would really like to be paid this shortfall sooner rather than later!
