Health & Medicine

I took my daughter to the @Health Medical Centre in Centurion when she became sick with chickenpox. The GP, Dr. Hantie Nienaber, saw us for a no more than 5 minutes. She just wrote a prescription for an anti-viral drug. I feel that Dr. Nienaber should have asked at least which pain medicine I had at home, since she should have been aware that chickenpox causes headache and fever.
The only pain medication I had at home was Nurofen containing 200mg ibuprofen. A paediatrician suggested about two years ago that my daughter may drink Nurofen when suffering from severe headaches. Thus, I gave my daughter one Nurofen tablet when she complained about pain and fever resulting from her chickenpox outbreak. However, when I read an article about chickenpox published on health24, I read in big bold letters that ibuprofen should not be given to someone suffering from chickenpox.
When I returned to @health just to get confirmation that my daughter was still OK, it was as if I hit a brick wall. Never in my life has anyone been as rude to me as Dr. Nienaber. She said that the health24 article was a lot of nonsense even though it has been reviewed by a paediatrician, Prof Eugene Weinberg.
