Medicross
Billed for Ineffective Service

Health & Medicine

My wife had extreme toothache prior to Christmas holidays, and our regular dentist was already on leave. We called Medicross Boksburg, and they agreed to see her if she was prepared to wait, which she was. She eventually saw the dentist, and he attended to her tooth, and administered a pain killer injection. She left, but a few hours later the pain was back, and even worse than before. We tried to call Medicross back, but they had closed. She had to endure a week of pain before she could see another dentist to have the problem finally attended to.

When I received the bill from Medicross, I did not pay it. I sent the bill back with an explanation that I refused to pay the bill as I was very unhappy with the service. I have been sent numerous "reminders", but no comment on my letter explaining why I refused to pay. The explanation has been re-sent to them a number of times.

Last week I received a call from a credit company informing me that my name was to be registered with a Credit Bureau for non payment. They appeared not to be interested in my reason for not paying, insisting that the listing would go ahead.

Does the National Credit Act not apply in a case like this?
