Payment outstanding for an emergency

My son was rushed in January to Lenmed due to a high fever, he had a fit and was not breathing and on arrival my husband was told to go to the ward as my son was not recovering from the fever. Now I received a letter of demand for payment of fee of R500 and interest which amounted to R800 now. I cannot be resposible for this as it was an emergency and not prebooked, i have never had any of these problems before why now. I have been sending and caling Bankmed for the past 3 months and everytime they say I should pay, when I called the call centre I was told that they will pay, now who doesnt know what they are suppose to do in their work
