Two spa treatments were booked for a friend's birthday.
1st problem - treatment started almost an hour late; still breathing steadily
2nd problem - mediocre massage, but not fuming yet
3rd problem - at the end of the manicure/pedicure I noticed that after the application of the top coat the nail-polish proceeded to change to an unpleasant acid-green colour. The therapist had at this stage trundled off to have lunch; she was called back to fix the failed chemical experiment. She then did a haphazard job on the manicure, all the while stating that she would 'let the manager know'. As the problem was happening before my very eyes, I felt the therapist's conflict resolution was approximately at 10-year-old level, the equivalent of "Mommy will fix it'. She did not offer to fix the pedicure, which had likewise also gone awry. This I then did myself, as she once again ran off to ingest some food. At this stage we were running about one and a half hours late, lunch was delayed, and we were rather hungry ourselves. Complaints were voiced.
To the spa's credit, the manager did call back the following day and offered a free manicure. She could not, however, offer a birthday unspolied.
