I sent my kids for Dental treatment in April last year. The treatment was done but the accounts Dept failed to submit the claim to (momentum) medical aid. The four months statutory deadline for the submission of claims lapsed. The accounts Dept then contacted me claiming that the Med Aid had refused to pay the account. Conversations I subsequently had with the Med Aid revealed that no account had been sent to them for payment. When confronted with that fact the accounts Dept admitted that they had not submitted the account.
Now my account has been handed over to collectors for collection. This has implications for my credit profile. The clinic manager instead of trying to resolve the issue tried to cover-up the incompetence. She said that I should show her where it is written that they would submit on my behalf. The fact that countless previous consultations had been sent electronically seemed not to matter to her.
Someone messed up and now I am expected to pay for their incompetence. I am not prepared to pay because they messed up.
