Lancet
Unclear communication / unauthorised tests

Health & Medicine

Last year my dad was in hospital for water on the lungs. One of the lab tests he had was not paid by Bonitas. because Bonitas says the TB test was not requested by the doctor on teh lab form.

I queried this with Lancetbilling department, who said this TB test came standard with the 3930M001 CEPHEID RIFAMP GENE DETECTION which WAS requested. I asked if they could send me a letter for Bonitas.

Without that letter I can see Bonita's point that the test was not requested. And since my dad had water on the lungs, which we al lknow is common with people who have heart problems I am surprsied a TB test was conducted).

I received an obscure letter from the lab almost three weeks after requesting the letter. It doesnt tell me what the agent told me (about it being a standard test that is requested with the Gene detection test). I replied and explained what i needed to put this claim in. And have had no reply another 3 weeks later.

Either Lancet is repsonsible for this account because my dad certainly did not request a TB test. Or if it was a valid test, then they need to motivate this with Bonitas. My dad is a pensioner - can you sort this out for me?
