Lancet
Bullying me into paying for incorrect test

Health & Medicine

I am a diabetic, and one of the tests i regularly do is the lipogram. in May last year, my doctor ordered a complete lipogram (test code 4025), which I went to Lancet for. This test should include the Cholesterol, HDL, LDL and Triglycerides. Lancet chose to exclude the LDL test, and instead bill me for the other 3 individual tests, namely cholesterol (4027), HDL (4028) and trig (4147). Discovery do not cover the 4028 and 4147 under my chronic illness benefit, and Lancet now expect me to pay for those tests. if Lancet had done and billed for the complete lipogram as ordered, Discovery would have paid for it.

I have spent the past year going from pillar to post in Lancet trying to resolve this, being ignored for months on end. Eventually Lancet state that they only do the LDL test if the trig number is high, which mine isn't. So I am expected to pay for Lancet's second-guessing of my doctor, which they do because I am too healthy? Lancet handed the matter to their collection attorneys in January. I have have once again tried to explain the issue, but to no avail - today i received a response (after months of waiting - again) where i am referred to as "another headache"!
