Breaking promises, unprofessional, refusing donation

In April I was told my iron was .2 too low to donate-something that I find hard to believe as Ive NEVER in my life had issues with this & would rather attribute it to a calibration mistake. They gave no explanation why this insignificant level can prevent me from donating. NO guidance on how to improve iron levels or what might cause low levels apart from handing me a brochure. Such unprofessional treatment Ive never experience before. I immediately phoned the SANBS and asked why .2 too low is an issue. They explained that my health can be comprised (this I understand & appreciate) but also promised to monitor my profile and that I can try again in 1 month not 3. Today Ive been told there's NO WAY I can donate (after testing my iron which turned out to be perfect). The person who committed to update my profile suddenly can no longer do it. Its nice to know that the SANBS has enough blood to refuse a perfectly healthy 28 year old begging to donate; they can make promises but dont have the integrity to keep them & will not go out of their way to assist and make a plan to get you donating again asap. Im done with donating now -will find another way to contribute to my community.
