I have just received an sms on the 4th May cancelling my daughter from our Medical Aid without any warning, correspondence or consultation. This electronic message was sent to my cellphone on a Saturday - the 4th May, when their offices are closed and I cannot get hold of anyone. The message reads that my daughter has been cancelled as of the 30th April, meaning that she has no medical aid cover. The message via sms received on the 1st May, was to inform me that the debit order for the medical aid would be taken off on the 2nd May due to the public holiday, and included the amount for my daughter to cover May. At no point have I been consulted in any way before this cancellation. I called Bonitas Head Office and someone answered the phone. When I asked if it was possible to speak to someone today (Sat) as the message had been received today via sms and it is very concerning, they put the phone down on me. This is totally unacceptable.
