Not Honouring an International Warranty??

Electronics and household app.

I purchased the 46" 8000 series TV in Dubai in July 2012 based on Samsung UAE assuring me that the TV had an international warranty that included South Africa for 1 year. About 3 weeks ago, this unit suddenly displayed a yellow line on the right side of the screen, and I called Samsung SA to repair the TV, which I was lead to believe, was still under warranty.
. I supplied a purchase invoice, and then the fun began. Samsung SA, claimed that the TV was purchased in a foreign country and as such, don't honour the warranty inspite that it is supposedly an international warranty.
Basic questions: 1. Why does supposedly such a big, reliable and supposedly honourable company like Samsung, produce a product which faults within less than 1 year? 2. Why can't Samsung live up to their reputation and repair the fault, without always look at fault from the consumer point-of-view? 3. Many renowned manufactures e.g. Sony, do honour their international warranties and do repairs even if the unit faulted in South Africa and was purchased in a foreign country. 4. Is Samsung too scared to stand-by their products that are less than 1 year old that faulted, and if so, why?
