FAILURE TO PROCESS CREDIT APPLICATION BY STORE MANAGER ON 14 APRIL 2026

My name is Paul Phundu, a regular customer of your OK furniture Store-Mams Mall

On 14 April 2026, I visited your store in Mams Mall Pretoria. I wanted to buy a double door refrigerator priced at around R21000.00.

I was assisted by a very friendly employee by the name of Gift. He advised me to bring along a 3 months bank statements, latest salary slip, copy of id and proof of residence.

I complied and my application for credit was pre-approved. I was informed that the Store Manager will assist me further by verifying my documents.

I was shocked to be told by the Store Manager that he could not process my application because of SARS deductions. I earn more than R30.000.00 per month and I had explained the deductions by SARS that it was temporary and my application cannot be declined based on this. Actually, I doubt if the store Manager checked whether I qualify or not. As I believe that it is the responsibility of OK Furniture Head Office to check whether or not I qualify for a credit.

This was a very painful experience as I believe that the Store Manager failed to ensure due diligence and proper procedures in as far as my application for credit was concerned.
It cannot be a word of mouth from him to tell me that " I cannot approve your application because of SARS payment on your salary advice. This was shocking as it did not make sense to me and there was no formal indication to me that the application for credit was declined. No documentary evidence was presented to me to prove the decline.

I have been a loyal customer for OK in Mamelodi and I have always bought my furniture cash from the very same branch. It was the first time that I wanted to apply for a credit for this refrigerator.

I believe the Store Manager did not treat my application with objectivity and fairness. Due process was not followed and I believe so.

Kindly intervene and let me know if I qualify for credit or not. I have already submitted the required documentation to Gift who was very warm and friendly.

I am still interested in the refrigerator and the washing machine.
