Failure to report faulty gearlock

Had a gear lock fitted at Soundmatch Parow about 3 years ago. Went back a week ago to fit an alarm for extra security. The gear lock was working when I took my car in but when I used the car the weekend (only time we really use it) I realised that the gear lock was not working. My husband took the car back and they said it was a faulty mechanism. They claim they didn't touch t lock which I found strange. I felt like someone who went to hospital to fix a leg and came out with a broken arm.
