Africote
Africote Skreed Floor Failure

Construction & Repair

Around 2008 we endeavored to renovate our bathroom and with this was the screed effect on the floor from Africote. Our experience started with Africote East Branch in JHB where the project took a long time to complete. When I say long time I mean 2 to 3 months for a simple floor and wall application. The floor needed to be redone within the first year and this new floor lasted only another year after that and ever since the floor started to lift. We were reluctant to go back to the supplier as our experience was not a pleasant one and now that the floor has gotten progressively worse we wanted to look at a repair option now a few years later and the owner of the east branch had changed. Upon investigating our option we invited the GM of Africote Theuns van der Westhuizen to inspect the floor, which he did and added that the reason the floor had lifted was because of rising damp within our house. We have proven that there is no rising damp with instruments but yet Africote still does not want to take responsibility that there is either a product defect or application defect and insist that we the customer are responsible of which we are disputing.
