Beware of the products fitted to your vehicle

Cars & Transport

My vehicle was serviced at Lazarus Ford on 7 December 2012. This service was done at 70 060km. In addition to the service the brake pads and wiper blades were replaced. The brake pads had 10% pad left. The same vehicle was serviced at Lazarus Ford on 4 April 2013. This service was done at 79 420km. Thus the vehicle did 9 360km between the 2 services. On 4 April, when the vehicle was at Lazarus Ford for the 79 420km service I received a call from Johan (Service consultant) to inform me that they have to replace the brake pads (30% pad left) and wiper blades. I reacted that it was impossible after only 9 000km. Discussed the matter with Tony (Workshop Manager) who made it clear it is a wear and tear item. Interestingly amongst other things he stated that a expensive and less expensive set of OEM brake pads are available for this vehicle and possibly the more expensive set could have lasted longer. Fact is I paid around R1, 000 for something that lasted 3 months or 9 360km and was not give an option between 2 different sets of brake pads. There are more details to this BUT this matter will be tested in terms of TCF and CPA. Good bye Lazarus Ford!!!
