Bad service results in damaged vehicle

Cars & Transport

McCarthy Nissan has serviced my car since I bought it. No mention was made at my previous service about the brakes needing any attention. When I brought the vehicle in last month, the brake pads needed replacing and I was told that the discs had a groove and needed skimming or replacement. We agreed that the pads would be replaced, but that the discs would remain, as the only negative effect would be that the new pads would deteriorate quicker. The pads needed to be ordered and I was specifically told that I could continue to drive my car without damaging the discs further, that there are still a few thousand kilometres left on the current pads. The brake pads arrived and I returned my vehicle to the garage. Now I am told that the brake pads and discs are metal-to-metal, resulting in irreparable damage to the discs. When I explained the above to the service manager, it became very clear that he has no interest in understanding my concern or taking any ownership of the problem - insinuating that my driving style resulted in the extraordinary damage. I look to these people to look after my car and safety - all they care about is making as much money as possible.
