Charged me twice for car rental

I hired a car from Avis while my car was in for repairs, which took much longer than expected. Long story short I had it for 31 days, 10 days on insurance and rest on my account. Because I didn't know how long I'd need it for I extended the lease 3 times while it was in my possession. Avis took the money off my account each time I did.

In the end the bill was almost R5000 and I paid the balance of the account (R1645) when I dropped the car off. I made sure to check with the man who assisted me that my account was paid off and I even got a statement summarising my payments to ensure that I all the payments for the extensions were accounted for.

Unfortunately Avis just charged the entire total of R4976 to my card again! I cannot afford for this to happen as I have only just started working and I haven't been paid for the month yet.

Of course, their customer care line is not available on a Sunday afternoon when this happened. I need that money back ASAP!
