Imperial Ford And Mazda
Quoted R36000 for nothing!!

Cars & Transport

On the 18th of Feb i took my Ford Fiesta to Imperial Ford and Mazda in kempton park as something in my bonnet had started steaming the night before.
Imperial did tests and issued a report stating "Engine has sump compression and cylinder head gasket is blown most likely from prolonged overheating."
My car had a major service done in December and a brand new radiator was fitted in November. so when i was told the engine had overheated you can imagine the questions i had. i was quoted R36709.74 to replace the engine. i spent the next 2 days trying to get answers form the service advisor and from the service manager, but to no avail.
eventually i contacted Protec Auto (a Bosch service Centre) as i wanted a second opinion. they collected my car&they tested it for a few more days.
i got a call from Protec stating "I can certainly say the head gasket is not blown currently."

my complaint here is how can Ford justify charging R36000 for a new engine when there was no issue with the engine? i am appalled
i have taken this to FORD SA and if i get no response from them i will be in contact with the Consumer Protection Board.

and by the way, my car is running perfectly now.
