RENTAL OF VEHICLE

We flew to Cape Town on of Monday 7 January 2013 and my husband went on the [URL Removed] site on the 3 rd January 2013 to rent a car, he paid the necessary deposit as well as a insurance fee of approximately R400., which would cover any excess payable if car was damaged. He paid and received confirmation that we were to collect a car from First car Rental (BIG MISTAKE). On arrival we were requested to pay R8500.00 deposit in lieu of any excess payable .my husband queried this as a result of the R400 he had paid as insurance which would waive any excess payable.
we were told that FIRST RENTALS had nothing to do with the insurance, we would have to pay the R8500 deposit tp cover the excess and we would have to claim seperately from [URL Removed] to get any money back. Secondly First Rentals proc the excess amount (R8500) and holds this money for up to 10 days after vehicle is returned (INTEREST IS EARNED BY THEM AND WE LOSE OUT!)
My advice: Rent your vehicles online from AVIS, HERTZ or EUROCAR as the prices are similar and a copy of your credit card is taken and not proc, YOU the customer dont lose out on interest and they dont earn interest. WORLD CLASS SERVICE COMPARED TO FIRST RENTALS
