On 28 Nov 2012 i booked a 4x4 Toyota Hillux with Avis in Walvis bay (for period 28 Dec 2012 - 5 Jan 2013) On 30 Nov I received an email from AVIS stating they're pleased to confirm our reservation with a valid reservation number. Two weeks before our departure to Namibia I called the Walvis bay office and spoke to a guy called Gobes to confirm the reservation and to arrange the pick-up for Walvis Bay airport on the 28th of Dec 2012 . As we needed a 4x4 i wanted to make sure the reservation was confirmed!! He confirmed the reservation. On our arrival at Walvis bay on the 28th of December we were told at the AVIS counter (a) they don't have our booking (b) there is no 4x4 available in Walvis Bay (c) after several calls to their office - the manager was on leave and can't attend to the problem. We were leaving for Sossusvlei the next morning and needed a 4x4. The assistance we received were shocking and unprofessional. We were left stranded at the airport with absolutely no help or apology from AVIS. I'll never book with AVIS again!!
