On Dec 7th, 2013 we picked up a Toyota Avanza at Johannesburg Airport. We informed the reservations agent that our flight had been changed for our departure on Dec 14th and we would therefore be returning the car at 3pm instead of 8am, so we wanted to book an extra day. The agent (I believe his name was John) assured us that due to it being a flight change we would not incur an extra day charge. We asked him for re-assurance, and he said it would absolutely not be a problem. Needless to say we were charged R745.99 which we ASSUME is for an extra day because of course you never get an email or invoice advising what the amount is for. On Jan 2nd, I spoke with Natasha at (011) 573-5000 who once again ASSURED me that I would have an email response from Avis by Jan 6th, 2014. Needless to say, I have once again heard nothing. I was happy to pay for the extra day when picking up the car, but am not at all happy by the manner in which this has been handled, and the clear lack of communication within the company.
