I rented a vehicle on the 9th & 10th November from Avis at the Cape Town Airport. On returning the vehicle I was notified that there was a scratch that was not previously on the car. It looked fresh and I recognised that this may well have happened whilst I was renting it. Avis noted that they will investigate this. I was in a rush to catch my flight and was asked to sign a form that noted my awareness of the scratch and the gentleman re-assured me that Avis would be in touch with me regarding the next steps in the process.

10 days later I had not heard from Avis, only to find out that my account had been debited with R2700. I feel that I should have been consulted first and provided with prior warning and or quotes reflecting/justifying this amount. I cannot accept that the scratch will cost this much to fix and that I was not communicated with prior. I seek evidence of multiple and competitive quotes justifying this amount, an apology as well as relevant compensation.
