Nissan South Africa
Beware: Premature Warranty Registration

Cars & Transport

This writeup is regarding a VERY bad experience I received from Nissan. I would like to make other potential buyers aware of the inferior material they use in their interior, as well as the very sneaky practice to register warranty detail before you receive the vehicle resulting in a warranty that does not span the 3 years as expected.

I bought their flagship Navara V9X, new and took delivery on 26 November 2010. The steering wheel started peeling very shortly and was replaced under warranty. Also the plastic around the window buttons and center console started peeling. I booked the last service under warranty for 25 November 2013 with a request to replace the steering wheel again because of material peeling off. After the service I was told my warranty had already expired. The dealership had registered the vehicle before I took delivery. Despite me making Nissan aware of the steering wheel problem in good time, they refused to replace the item because of the warranty expiration date. Not to mention the R2000 required to update SatNav.

Should have stayed brand loyal and bought another Mitsubishi.
