Imperial Nissan
Faulty handbrake

Cars & Transport

I purchased a new Nissan Qashqai 1.6 petrol 2013 at the above dealer and took delivery on the 18th September 2013. I went home to Eastern Cape. I parked on a slight uphill with hand brake pulled up and on neutral, at about 10 a.m at about 12 mid day, I noticed my car moving downhill by itself. As it moved down it was stopped by hitting a fence pole with the front. When we arrived to check, hand brake was still up as I have parked it. I then reported incident to dealer. Then dealer took my car for testing, technician came back n reported to us that he tested car on uphill and hand brake was slightly loose and technician had adjusted it. Now dealer is reporting it to be my fault of not pulling hand brake to the maximum and I should carry the cost of damage to my insurance.
