Toyota
Corolla gearbox broken at 22570 km's

Cars & Transport

Disappointed with the little responsibility Toyota SA took for a seemingly obvious factory fault when 2nd gear on my accident-free 2009 Corolla, bought new, broke after 22570 km's. Customer services rep negotiated the quote with Toyota giving: 1/3 off the part & Market Toyota Cavendish agreed to cover 1/3 of part & 1/2 the labour. I expressed my dissatisfaction that Toyota SA were not taking full responsibility by, what I suspect, only supplying the part at cost.

Emailed by the service manager during repairs, "I've found another syncro in the gearbox, that's suspicious and therefore I won't have the vehicle ready today, the part needs to come from the factory, but at no extra cost for you." Pleased that the service manager was concerned enough to make the additional replacements. I then emailed customer services on 2 September to take more responsibility for this defect. Received automated response only by 19 September.

I bought a Toyota for the reputation of trouble-free motoring but have been left with a bill and a car I no longer have full confidence in.
