A 2006 1.6 SX Toyota Corolla Verso's motor dangerously fails (Bottom Section - cylinder block) on the 28/05/2010 (71519 kms - 3 & 1/2 years old) with the original owners. Toyota tells them the motor can't be repaired & needs to be replaced at their expense (being out of warranty by 6 months) at a cost of R50K. Disillusioned they cut their losses and accept an offer of R50K, by Toyota for the car, never to buy a Toyota car again! Toyota then repairs the motor for R12680.49 and sells it to me as a used vehicle through Toyota Automark Certified Used Vehicles (PMB) for R89505.00! I took out a 2 Year Extra Warranty Maxi Double Cover (Expired June 2012) at a cost of R 6135.96 when I bought the car, since it was a used vehicle BUT was not aware, until I recently contacted the previous owners, that Toyota had told them the motor could not be repaired & needed to be replaced. On the 24/12/2012, 68199 kms later the motor fails (Top Section - cylinder head) again, and I am quoted (being out of warranty by 6 months) R26342.82 to have it repaired! The car has a full service history with Toyota. Also worth mentioning is that the starter motor packed in on 09/03/2011 (92752 kms)!
