HOOPERS
Brand New Polo Gti DSG - Defective Engine

Cars & Transport

I recently purchased a brand new VW Polo GTi DSG from Hoopers VW in Durban. I was really excited about the car as it being my first brand new car.
But trouble struck at 800km's when i checked the oil in the car, I found it to be more than 2pints short, having owned second hand cars before I know if oil is short in the vehicle its a sign of engine wear/fatigue and possible breakdown in the futue, it was late that night so i called my salesman the nexy day, the guy wasnt very helpful as he was at the time when we were in the process of buying the car. He just said its common on those cars and he will get in touch with his service advisor and get back to me, that wasnt the case as I had to call him back that afternoon, he put me thorugh his service advisor who told me that its normal for the car to consume oil, i told him I understand but its a brand new car and it already took a liter of oil and it cost me R100, he said its outlined in the manual that the car will take a litre in 2000kms and i must let the engine settle in for 5000kms. Even though it consumed double the figure in half the kilometres, i just accepted his theory and said thanks.
