Volkswagen
PRE-OWNED CAR WITH UNDISCLOSED ENGINE PROBLEMS

Cars & Transport

On 10 July 2012, I purchased a VW 2004 Polo1.4TDI from VW Booysens. In less than a week post the purchase, the car signalled a sign that indicated that there is an engine problem with the car.
After the sign, I brought the car in to be attended to regarding the engine signal. It was attended to and returned, however, after a short period (a week later) the engine sign came back. It was returned and attended to again. This problem persisted and the car was bought back numerous time (more than 5 times with the same problem).
The signal came back; I however did not bring the car back as it was due for services and assumed it was the reason for the engine signal. The car was serviced and shortly after the service, the sign came back and the gears were stiff.
I then bought in the car to VW Booysens and was informed that the gearbox was damaged and the damages cannot be fixed and quoted me R16 500.00. I was further informed me the warranty only covers R8 000.00 for a gearbox. I have owned this car for less than a year and throughout, it has indicated that there is an engine problem with the car. This is bad services and begs the question about the quality of pre-owned cars in VW Booysen
