Cars & Transport

In June 2013 I had an engine noise. The workshop in question was convinced I needed a new engine for a very 'low' cost of R75K. The workshop was not very helpful when discussing reconditioned engines and other alternatives. It's not like I have R75K lying around, just waiting fro me to spend it... They were happy to offer me an alternative solution - trade in the 'broken' car for a new one. Made my choice of a new model, applied for finance, was ready to sign on the dotted line, went for a test drive - not a good experience... The car presented for the test drive had the wrong tyres on, we could feel the ride was not good, we insisted on driving a decent model, but was told that they had no other demo model and that a car will not be released until the contract is signed. Is this how you convince a customer to buy from you? But that is besides the point. The trade in value offered for my engine-less car was pathetic, prompting my husband to get a second opinion. R10K later, she was fixed, I vowed never to deal with CMH/Opel ever again, and traded her in for a new car (different brand). I eventually requested the diagnostic report but it only showed "Complete Engine"...
