Volkswagen
Beware of TSI Engines

Cars & Transport

I have a jetta 1.4 TSI Highline. Since I had it; it has been in the workshop on average every 3000KM's with parts packing up, the supercharger and turbo not working with one another, eventually lead to the engine being replaced on 47000km, since then I added an additional 6000km, already had issues where the vehicle misfires, now it is consuming 3 pints of oil every 900km, sounds like a diesel and goes like a Hyundai i10. Every time I just get told we will fix the issue, I have to on my own expense make plans to get to where I need to be. when I tried to get rid of it I get offered R50K below the book value. So if you are considering to get a TSI engine cause they small powerful engines with low emissions, etc. It might spend more time in the workshop than on the road to enjoy
