Severe Negligence

I had 2 tyres fitted, bad handling made me bring it back, it was suggested I replace all 4 shocks. I did that and the handling was still not right, a day after changing the shocks I found a liquid leaking out near the back left suspension. Took it back again and it appears my rear brake hose was not fitted properly.
A couple days later while approaching an intersection, I applied the brakes, nothing, foot went straight to the floor. I resorted to pulling the handbrake and skidded to a stop. Very rattled I took the car to the nearest Supa Quick. While there I called the Cresta branch owner and his response "we fit 200 shocks a month and have never had an issue like this before, let me know what the issue is and we can take it from there".
Brackets that should have been fitted to keep the metal brake hoses in place were not fitted, this caused them to move with the suspension and ultimately snap, leaving me with no brakes. I drove back to the Cresta branch and had the brackets fitted. I have been promised compensation to recoup my costs and I am still waiting. What would have happened had I hit someone or something due to this negligence?
