Lack of respect for customer property

When I booked my car in, i was asked if I had removed all my valuables. I had. I was asked if I had my service book - I wouldn't have thought of taking that out, but since that seemed to be a concern, I did. However, I did leave my random odds and ends (pens, receipts, other personal belongings) stored safely in the cubby hole. When I got the car back, all those were gone. I can understand that they remove valuables to reduce the temptation to, but WHAT THE BUSINESS OF THIERS IS IT TO REMOVE THE REST OF MY STUFF??? If that's part of thier procedure for cleaning the car, why not have the decency to put the things aside, and return them to the car once it's cleaned.

But what has really ME OFF is the attitude of the GENERAL MANAGER who basically fobbed me off to his staff, and said there's nothing he can do about it. He couldn't even be bothered to talk to me, as far as he's concerned my stuff is gone, and that's the end of it for him. What pathetic service! I deal with customer complaints. One thing I know for sure is that even if the situation cannot be remedied - sometimes it can't - just acknowledging the customer's concern makes all the difference!!
