Guard losing customers propety

On the 10/12/13 I sent my colleague to Jet in Randburg, he was using my umbrella, the door guard at Jet told him to live the umbrella at the door, when he was done and leaving the umbrella was not there and the door guard told him she has no idea who took it. Its strange that Jet expect the door guard to guard customer valuables yet door guard doesn't care enough and cannot recall what belongs to who. I then called the store, their phone ranged for maybe 5 - 10 min before they answered, strange that it is only one floor or maybe their phones r not at their reach, then I spoke with a lady called Gugu and explained to her and requested to talk to a manager and she told me that she has no idea where the manager is and how long it will take to find the manager, I left my details with her requesting the manager to call me back and nobody called me. Now I need help and ways to get my umbrella. I cannot be losing personal stuff because somebody choose not to do their job or there is no better way to guard customers thing. The door guard and Jet should take responsibility. What is the procedure and my rights as a consumer to get what is mine back?
