Wrong key-set, .and dysfunctional locking system

Cars & Transport

In 2011, a Toyota Quantum GL 13 seater (XGG512GP) was towed by the MI-Way insurance company to Ixopo Toyota. After a month within the dealership, the vehicle was transferred to Durban Fuel Injectors for electronic repairs as the diagnosis was believed to be a damaged computer box. As the Vehicle was a still under warranty I registered a claim with McCathy Motor Plan and my claim was rejected on the grounds that Ixopo Toyota was not authorised to transfer the vehicle to the Durban Fuel Injectors. I paid R18000.00 for the repirs done.

My driver was given one key for the car. The key given operated manually as opposed to the original central locking system. Two years down the line I went to McCarthy Toyota in Lynnwood to have the spare key programmed to work with the new system inserted in Durban. All Toyota dealers contacted rejected the key from Durban Fuel Injectors as fitting Toyota SA standards and specifications. I was told to contact Ixopo Toyota about the problem as the only assistance I could get from the Toyota dealers in Pretoria is to fit the new system at between R14 and 17 000. Ixopo Toyota could not help me and I am stuck with the key that is not recognized.
